Pet Connection
1. Are you a dog or cat person?
I would say I'm more of a dog person. I don't dislike cats, but I guess I learned to shy away from them because of my allergies.
2. How many pets do you have?
Technically I only have one, my parrot, but I consider my parents' dog to be my pet, too!
3. What’s the best thing about your pets?
Louie is a talker. Every day he comes up with something new. He makes me laugh. He's also incredibly affectionate for an African Grey. McKeag is an ornery little shit. He's an independent, fiercely stubborn little guy, but he just melts my heart. He can be the most loving, loyal, and fun dog you'll ever meet.
4. What’s the weirdest thing your pet has done?
It's not so much what Louie has done, but what he's said. His latest word concoctions are, "shit dog" and "stick ass." Yeah. You gotta love him.
McKeag just sleighs me with his "sock-burying" habits. He'll find my mom or dad's socks, stuff them in his mouth, and carefully look around the apartment for some place to "bury" them. He'll start crying until he finds the right spot. Once he does find it, he digs and digs his little heart out, pushes the sock into the floor (or whatever spot he's chosen), and then push the "dirt" over the socks with his nose. It really is a sight to see.
5. Plans for any more pets?
Mark and I have talked about getting a Macaw at some point, but we realize that we would need a house and the monetary means to care for such a large bird. I think we've also pretty much decided that if we end up getting a dog, it will be a Scottie. Mark has really taken to McKeag, and I know I wouldn't want any other breed. We've already chosen a name for it, actually!
